Resources still needed
When an ingredient has valid substitutes, the list keeps the alternatives visible. Base-resource mode expands only the first listed standard recipe and rounds every intermediate craft up to a whole batch.
Count the complete project before farming
From one blueprint to a practical shopping list
Large ARK projects rarely consume only the ingredients shown on the final engram. A Fabricator needs Cementing Paste and Sparkpowder, while ammunition may need Gunpowder that first consumes Sparkpowder and Charcoal. This calculator keeps the direct recipe visible and can also expand supported intermediate products into the resources gathered in the world.
Start with the item and real quantity
Select the structure, saddle, weapon, armor piece or ammunition type you intend to craft. Enter the final number of items, not the number of times you plan to press Craft. The calculator converts the requested output into whole crafting batches. This matters for recipes such as Sparkpowder and Gasoline, where one craft can produce multiple pieces.
The selected crafting stations are shown next to the recipe. They help prevent a common planning mistake: collecting the correct resources, then discovering the engram belongs in a Smithy, Fabricator or another station that has not been built or powered yet.
Use direct recipe mode at the crafting station
Direct recipe mode answers what must be placed into the station for the selected craft. It does not unpack Gunpowder into Charcoal and Sparkpowder or Polymer into Obsidian and Cementing Paste. This view is best when those intermediate resources are already stored and you only need to move the right amounts.
Alternative materials remain written on the same line. Organic Polymer can replace standard Polymer in many recipes, Achatina Paste can replace Cementing Paste and map-specific equivalents may satisfy another resource class. The tool does not silently decide which alternative should be consumed.
Use base-resource mode before a farming run
Base-resource mode recursively expands intermediates that have a verified recipe in the local dataset. It consolidates repeated requirements. If several branches require Metal Ingots, the total is combined and converted to raw Metal. If both Gunpowder and another component require Sparkpowder, their Flint and Stone costs are added together.
Every intermediate is rounded to a whole craft before expansion. That can make a base total slightly larger than decimal multiplication, but it matches the fact that ARK does not craft a fraction of a batch. Unused output remains inventory surplus.
Subtract inventory without rewriting the recipe
Enter the amount already owned beside each resource. The original recipe total stays visible while the remaining amount updates. This makes the result auditable: another tribe member can see whether a small remaining target comes from a cheap recipe or from a large stockpile already counted.
The copied list contains only outstanding quantities. Recheck shared storage before the final craft because another survivor, an automated mod or an active station can consume the same material meanwhile.
Know when the result can differ in game
Community servers can override vanilla costs in Game.ini, and mods can replace an ingredient with a different item class. Stack mods normally change stack sizes rather than costs, but some introduce replacement resources that are not interchangeable with vanilla classes. The server's displayed recipe is authoritative.
Blueprint quality can increase the material cost of equipment. This calculator models the standard recipe cost, not the increased cost printed on a dropped quality blueprint. Use it as a primitive baseline when the blueprint itself lists different totals.
Fast local data instead of a live dependency
The recipe data is synchronized during development and shipped with the site. Opening the calculator does not call an outside wiki or wait for a remote API. Search engines receive the page content and calculator markup in the initial response, while quantity changes run instantly in the browser.
Recipes carry crafting station, yield and ingredient alternatives. Future expansion is a versioned data update rather than a new hard-coded formula for every page.
ARK Resource Calculator FAQ
What is the difference between direct and base resources?
Direct recipe shows the ingredients placed into the crafting station. Base resources recursively expand supported intermediates such as Gunpowder, Sparkpowder, Polymer, Electronics, Metal Ingots and Cementing Paste.
Does the calculator support alternative ingredients?
Yes. Valid alternatives remain visible in the line name. Base-resource mode expands the first listed standard choice, so select an alternative manually when your map or inventory makes it preferable.
Why are some totals rounded up?
ARK crafts whole batches. If a resource recipe produces more than one item, the calculator rounds the required number of crafts up before expanding its ingredients.
Does it include custom mod recipes?
No. This dataset contains verified vanilla ASA recipes. A server mod or Game.ini crafting-cost override can change the materials and should be treated as a separate recipe set.
