Why the bonus is not added to all armor
Blueprint bonus above primitive: 80.0 − 25.0 = 55.0
Maximum random crafted bonus: 850% ÷ 20 × 1 = 42.50%
Maximum pre-cap armor: 25.0 + 55.0 × (1 + 42.50%) = 103.4
Crafting Skill improves only the blueprint's bonus above the primitive base value. It does not improve saddles crafted directly from an engram. Actual results are random and a server's item-stat clamp can cap the final armor.
Separate the blueprint bonus from the base
Estimate a saddle craft without promising the best roll
Crafting Skill does not add a flat percentage to all saddle armor. It rolls a random bonus and applies that bonus only to the portion supplied by the blueprint above the primitive base value. The calculator keeps those steps visible so a high Crafting Skill percentage does not become an impossible guaranteed result.
Copy values from the correct places
Primitive base armor is the value of the basic saddle type. Many standard saddles use 25 armor, but the field remains editable because special saddles and server changes should not be forced into one assumption. Blueprint armor is printed on the blueprint before crafting. Survivor Crafting Skill is the current percentage shown on the survivor who performs the craft.
Use the final Crafting Skill active at the moment of crafting. If the survivor redistributes levels or a server changes its per-level stat multiplier, the displayed percentage can change. A value copied from the current panel is more reliable than one remembered from another character.
Calculate only the eligible blueprint bonus
Subtract primitive base armor from blueprint armor. For an 80 armor blueprint with a 25 armor base, 55 armor comes from blueprint quality. That 55 is the part multiplied by the random Crafted Skill Bonus. The original 25 remains unchanged.
This is why multiplying 80 by a bonus percentage overstates the result. The correct pre-cap formula is base armor plus blueprint bonus multiplied by one plus the rolled bonus. The tool prints the exact substitution for the selected inputs.
Understand the random range
Maximum Crafted Skill Bonus is Crafting Skill divided by 20, then adjusted by CraftingSkillBonusMultiplier when the server changes that setting. A survivor at 850% Crafting Skill on the default multiplier has a maximum roll of 42.5%. The minimum roll remains zero even with a specialized crafter.
The average estimate assumes the random roll is uniform between zero and the maximum, making the midpoint half of the maximum bonus. It helps compare plans across many crafts, but one saddle can land anywhere inside the range. Do not budget a boss fight around the midpoint as though it were guaranteed.
Use target chance for repeated crafts
Enter an armor target to estimate the share of the random bonus interval that meets or exceeds it. A target below the blueprint armor has a 100% pre-cap chance because even a zero crafted roll reaches it. A target above the calculated maximum has a 0% chance under the entered settings.
The percentage describes each independent craft. It does not guarantee success after a fixed number of attempts. If resources are scarce, combine the chance with the ARK Resource Calculator to understand the cost of crafting several copies.
Account for clamps and server settings
ARK can clamp item armor through server item-stat configuration. A computed pre-cap result above that limit can be reduced in game. Different clusters may also change CraftingSkillBonusMultiplier or survivor stat gains, so screenshots from another server do not establish the result on yours.
The tool deliberately labels its values as pre-cap. It does not guess a hidden clamp from the blueprint quality label. Ask the server owner for custom item-stat settings or compare a controlled craft if output repeatedly stops at the same armor.
Blueprint crafts and engram crafts differ
Crafted Skill Bonus applies when an item is made from a blueprint. A primitive saddle crafted directly from its learned engram does not receive the blueprint quality bonus. Increasing Crafting Skill can affect other systems, but it does not turn a normal engram saddle into a quality blueprint craft.
Record the crafter, blueprint armor and final output when testing a valuable blueprint. That audit helps distinguish random variation from a server cap and prevents comparison of items made under different settings as if they were identical trials.
ARK Saddle Armor Calculator FAQ
Does Crafting Skill improve the entire armor value?
No. It improves only the blueprint bonus above the primitive base armor. A saddle with 80 armor and a 25 primitive base has 55 armor eligible for the crafted bonus.
Is the maximum result guaranteed?
No. Each blueprint craft rolls a random Crafted Skill Bonus from zero to the maximum allowed by the survivor's current Crafting Skill and server multiplier.
Do engram-crafted saddles receive the bonus?
No. The item must be crafted from a blueprint for the Crafted Skill Bonus to apply.
Why can the in-game result be lower than the calculated maximum?
The roll is random and servers can apply item-stat clamps or custom settings that cap armor. The calculator shows a pre-cap range and labels the limitation.
