Single player uses many of the same configuration values as a server, but one checkbox changes how several visible numbers behave. Use Single Player Settings applies additional boosts intended to make a world practical for one person who cannot divide gathering, taming and breeding across a tribe. If you copy dedicated-server rates while that option remains enabled, the final experience can be much faster or stronger than the numbers suggest.
There is no universal best profile. A player who enjoys the primitive phase needs different rates from someone replaying the story with limited evening time. The reliable method is to decide how long common tasks should take, keep related multipliers together and test one action before changing a second group.

1. Understand how single player time works
The local world runs while it is open. Pausing can stop gameplay, and closing the game stops maturation, incubation, crop growth, resource respawn and other timers that would continue on an always-online server. This changes the real experience of default durations. A multi-day maturation timer means many hours with the world open, not simply waiting until the same date next week while the game stays closed.
Plan rates around active play time. If you play two hours per evening, a breeding schedule designed for a 24-hour server may never reach a convenient care window. Faster values are not cheating by definition; they compensate for a different clock. The important question is whether progression still creates decisions rather than whether the number matches an official server.
2. Decide whether to use the Single Player Settings boost
Use Single Player Settings adds adjustments to taming, breeding and creature stat behavior beyond the visible sliders. Leaving it on is convenient for a first solo world because the game shortens activities that normally assume a tribe or continuously running server. Leaving it off makes the entered multipliers easier to compare with dedicated-server examples and calculators.
Choose one approach and document it. Do not copy a profile labeled for the option off into a world where it is on without retesting. If results seem much faster than expected, check this option before adding inverse multipliers. Changing it in an established world can alter future progression and creature behavior, so back up first and compare on a disposable tame or breeding pair.

3. Set XP, harvesting and taming from real tasks
For XP, decide how long you want early engrams to matter. Very high experience can unlock metal progression before a new player learns food, shelter and creature behavior. For harvesting, test one tree, metal rock and creature harvest with the tools you normally use. Higher yield reduces repetition but also fills inventories and storage more quickly.
Taming speed should be tested on a known creature and level with an appropriate food. Faster taming does not remove torpor management, food choice or protection from damage. Start with moderate increases, record the result and change one value. A profile feels balanced when routine work fits your available time while major creatures and bosses still require preparation.
4. Treat breeding and imprinting as one schedule
Egg hatch speed, baby mature speed, mating interval and cuddle interval interact. Increasing maturation without shortening care intervals can make a baby become adult before enough imprint requests occur. The single-player boost changes this relationship again, which is why a breeding combination from a public server may fail in a local world even when every visible number was copied.
Test one fast-maturing species and one slow species. Record birth time, first care request, adult time and percentage per interaction. If care begins after adulthood, reduce BabyCuddleIntervalMultiplier or slow maturation. If care becomes constant busywork, increase the interval or use an imprint amount setting carefully. Back up before changing a large active breeding project.
5. Set wild level separately from progression speed
Difficulty controls wild level steps and influences loot; it is not the same as making survival mechanically harder. For the familiar standard maximum wild level 150, use a consistent difficulty override and refresh existing wild spawns after preserving the world. Creatures already present do not automatically reroll when the value changes.
Verify across several areas and species rather than expecting every creature to spawn at the maximum. High difficulty increases the possible level, not the guarantee that each spawn will be 150. Keep player and tamed-creature stat multipliers near their intended baseline until you understand their separate additive and multiplicative behavior, because extreme stat sliders can erase the reason to find better wild creatures.
6. Change one group and keep a known-good profile
Create a backup before broad changes. Adjust one group, load the world and perform a repeatable test. Reopen the settings after exiting to confirm they were saved. If a value appears ignored, check whether it belongs in GameUserSettings.ini or Game.ini and whether Use Single Player Settings is applying an additional effect.
Keep a short note with the checkbox state and important multipliers. This lets you reproduce the experience on another map and prevents a future adjustment from becoming guesswork. Balanced solo settings are not a copied list of large numbers. They are a measured answer to how often the world is open and which parts of ARK you want to spend time doing.
