How to judge wild ARK stats before breeding
A creature's total level tells you how many points exist, but not where those points went. The Stat Evaluator measures the part that matters: how unusual the allocation in one chosen stat is for a creature of that level.
Enter point allocations, not the visible stat value
The points field expects the hidden wild level count assigned to Health, Stamina, Weight, Melee Damage or another stat. It does not expect a number such as 5,400 Health or 320% Melee Damage. If you are looking at an egg or gestating baby in ARK: Survival Ascended, the incubator readout already exposes the point count. For a wild creature, use a reliable stat extraction method before deciding whether the roll is good. The visible value can be misleading because every species has its own base number and increase per point. Forty Health points on two different species are equally unusual under the same distribution model, even though the final health values can be dramatically different.
Why the creature level is reduced by one
ARK creatures begin at level 1. Each additional wild level represents one point assigned to an available stat. A level 150 creature therefore has 149 distributable points, not 150. A perfect tame that finishes at level 224 has 223 inherited wild points before the player applies any XP levels. The calculator handles this base level automatically.
Keep the entered level and the entered stat points from the same stage. If you use a wild level, use the allocation observed before taming. If you use the level immediately after taming, use the final post-tame wild allocation that includes the bonus levels granted by taming effectiveness. Domestic levels added later by the player are chosen deliberately, so they are not random wild rolls and must not be included.
Select the correct number of allocatable stats
The stat count controls how widely the available points are spread. Most creatures in ARK: Survival Ascended allocate wild points across six stats because Movement Speed no longer receives random wild points. Many aquatic creatures also omit Oxygen and therefore use five. ARK: Survival Evolved non-flyers usually use seven, while flyers generally use six because their wild Movement Speed allocation was removed.
Some creatures break the common pattern. A special stat, a disabled stat or a species-specific mechanic can change the number of possible destinations for each point. Using six when the creature actually distributes across five makes the expected average too low and makes ordinary rolls appear rarer than they are. The profile buttons are starting points, not a substitute for checking how the selected species allocates levels.
How the probability rating works
For each distributable point, the model gives every allocatable stat an equal chance. Repeating that process produces a binomial distribution. The average is the number of distributable points divided by the stat count, but the calculator goes further by summing the probability of the entered point count and every better result. That cumulative chance is what determines the rating.
A Top 10% threshold means no more than one in ten random creatures of the same level and stat profile should reach that many points in the chosen stat. Top 1% means roughly one in one hundred or rarer, and Top 0.1% means roughly one in one thousand or rarer. Because the allocation uses whole points, the actual probability at a threshold will not always equal the label exactly. The tool uses the first whole point count whose cumulative chance is at or below the target.
Read “one in” as a comparison, not a farming promise
If the result says one in 80, it describes the probability of that stat allocation among creatures with the same total level and number of allocatable stats. It does not mean the next 80 spawns will contain one guaranteed match. Random streaks happen, and maps do not necessarily produce every creature level at the same rate. Finding eighty creatures at mixed levels is not the same experiment as comparing eighty creatures at the exact level entered in the tool.
The strictly better figure answers a slightly different question. It excludes the current point count and measures the chance of rolling at least one point higher. This is useful when deciding whether continued hunting is realistic. Replacing a merely average breeder is usually practical. Replacing a top 0.1% stat could demand far more time than the small numerical gain is worth.
Use rarity together with the needs of the species
A rare Food roll on a combat creature may be less valuable than an above-average Health or Melee roll. For a hauling animal, Weight and Stamina can matter more than damage. The evaluator deliberately judges probability, not usefulness, because usefulness depends on the job you are building the line to perform.
Compare one desired stat at a time, then combine the best inherited stats through breeding. A high total baby level can hide wasted allocations in stats you do not need. Conversely, a lower-level breeder can be valuable when one important stat is exceptional and the other allocations are low. A practical evaluation workflow
First, record the creature's level before any domestic XP is applied. Second, identify the number of stats that can receive wild points for that species and game version. Third, extract the point count for the stat you care about. Enter those three values and use Copy result to keep a consistent note for your breeding records.
When hunting wild creatures, compare the current roll with the Top 10% and Top 1% thresholds before spending resources on a tame. When evaluating eggs, compare inherited points directly and keep the parent that improves the target stat. ARK Stat Evaluator FAQ
Should I enter the creature level before or after taming?
Either works if the stat points you enter belong to that same stage. Use the wild level with pre-tame points, or the post-tame level with the final inherited wild points after taming effectiveness added its bonus levels. Do not include levels applied later with XP.
Why does a level 150 creature have 149 distributable points?
ARK creatures start at level 1. Every level above that base level adds one point to an available stat, so level 150 represents 149 allocated points.
How many stats should I choose for ARK Survival Ascended?
Most ASA creatures use six allocatable stats because wild points no longer roll into Movement Speed. Many water creatures use five because they also do not allocate points to Oxygen. Species with unusual mechanics may need a different count.
Does a top 1% stat mean the creature is worth taming?
It means the point allocation is statistically rare for the level and stat count you selected. Whether the tame is useful still depends on the species, the stat you need, taming effectiveness and the goals of your breeding line.
Can I evaluate mutated or player-levelled creatures?
Do not include domestic XP levels. Mutation points can be tracked separately, but the random-spawn probability shown here describes the original wild and taming-bonus allocation, not the later mutation process.
